Our home market

A commitment to Irish produce and Irish consumers here in our home market underpins everything we do in Dole Ireland. Across our 13 operations island-wide, it is local empowered management who shape our services and drives our business. They bring local experience and expertise, foster relationships with our national network of local growers, and understand the needs of their local consumers. They also bring that all important personal touch to our on-the-ground operations.

Depots on your Doorstep!

At Dole, we believe in local experts selling local produce to local customers. Our people across the country are 'can-do' people, experts in the unique requirements of their local area and eager to go the extra mile to get the job done. It can make all the difference! Dole Ireland’s infrastructure sets us apart. For a start, we have a truly national network of depots, thirteen in all. No matter where you are on the island, there’s a Dole Ireland “depot on your doorstep.” We’re absolutely unique in that respect. If yours is a stand alone business, there’s a local Dole depot nearby with local management hungry and appreciative of your custom. For those operating multi-site businesses, Dole Ireland can deliver a single-supplier fresh produce solution across the 32 counties, one administered centrally but operated locally.

Local produce- taking pride of place in our portfolio.

In Dole Ireland, we are enthusiastic advocates for Irish horticulture. Working with local growers right across the island, we operate a 'local produce first' policy. It means preference is given to home grown fruits & vegetables whenever it is possible to do so. Our relationship with many Irish growers dates back generations and we are proud to provide technical, commercial, marketing, promotional, packaging, logistical and financial support to local producers, as we collectively work to raise the bar ever higher in Irish horticulture.

Meet some our local growers and producers

As we are feeding peoples senses, it is enormously satisfying to see people using and enjoying our produce. Herbs are after all an adornment to food and we take great pride in producing a product which people take pride in cooking with.

We’re one of only a handful of growers in Europe, so we are very proud of this particular tomato. Piccolo is a distinctive variety because of the way it looks and the way it tastes and that’s what makes it so special.

Honeycrunch is an extraordinary apple because of its really wonderful mouthfeel when you eat it. It has this crunchiness which it manages to hang onto better than many other varieties, combined with really good flavour- a nice balance of sweetness and acidity.

The farm was a family farm, going back 130 years or so. It was my grandmothers home place. I started here in 1991 after leaving Kildalton College, where I studied commercial horticulture. I started with a 7 acre field, we’re now up to about 70 acres or so.

Different because we’re there

At Dole Ireland, we are dedicated to bringing the widest range of the most delicious fresh fruits and vegetables to consumers across the island. We play a vital role in this mission-growing our own produce in some of the world’s most fertile regions, sourcing from the best growers globally to complement our production, and consolidating volumes to create efficiencies and value for our customers. What truly sets us apart is that, very often, we’re there-on the ground, making a difference. A prime example of this is our state-of-the-art production facility in Chile, which you can explore below.
